Jesus once described what happens in heaven when a person turns to him in faith and is saved. He said, "There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God" (Luke 15:10). There must have been a standing ovation in heaven that day!
It was the Sunday of Father's Day, a few weeks ago and Crossroads Church of Long Island, the Farmingdale and East Islip campuses, baptized 14 new believers. So many things stand out for me:
> The youngest was 9 and the oldest was 81.
> The majority were couples who had led each other to Christ.
> The testimonies of these new believers reminded us of the sovereign power and grace of Jesus.
> One believer who was baptized three years ago, who is now a campus pastor, baptized a person he led to Christ.
Crossroads is also working in a church revitalization effort with another church in Central Islip. The worship leaders from that church joined the Crossroads team and led us in praise. Their members came out in full!
There was joy everywhere that night, and applause for everyone who was baptized. Judging from what Jesus said, Crossroads was not the only place full of applause that night.
