It is hard to imagine how Church at the Mall in Lakeland, Florida partnering with the Metro New York Baptist Association could directly affect lives of a family in Florida like Don and Lori Bellar. That is until their son, Jordan Bellar is offered a job by the New Jersey Devils and begins a rather quick transition from life in Central Florida to life in the unknown world of New Jersey and metropolitan New York City. With little to no contacts or relationships in this area, Jordan’s dad, Don Bellar called Church at the Mall to see if we might be able to help in Jordan’s transition.
We contacted George Russ, the Executive Director of Metro New York Baptist Association, and asked him if he would help us reach out to Chris High. Pastor Chris is one of many church planters in the New York metropolitan area that we have met as a part of being a part of an ongoing relationship with this amazing web of support that exists in this area. And he just happens to pastor a church (Hoboken Grace) in Hoboken, NJ where Jordan has moved!
To make a long story short, George Russ reached out to Chris High who reached out to Jordan Bellar. Jordan is now drinking a cup of coffee with the pastor of Hoboken Grace. Pastor Chris hopes to plug Jordan into the church community at Hoboken Grace and even joked with me that that it is “not for the hockey tickets.” Parents, Lori and Don Bellar are keeping up with Hoboken Grace Church through social media and love what they see.
It's just a quick reminder of how truly connected the body of Christ is. These connections are real, and so are the relationships that are being built as a result of this partnership.
