MutiplyNYC develops and equips young adults into disciple-makers as they serve and strengthen New York City ministries.

OUR VISION

Develop and Equip:  You will learn the rhythms, culture, and needs of the community you will be serving. You will learn firsthand how to be a missionary in an urban context and how to live out community. With weekly Development Days, you will be trained to be a disciple-maker by hearing from various pastors, church planters, and other New York City missionaries. Ultimately, you will learn how to be a disciple-maker wherever you go.

Serve and Strengthen: You will serve the people of New York City by meeting their physical, social, and spiritual needs. You will be sent out in pairs to serve local churches, communities, and other ministries in the city. You will also keep an emphasis on the lost by helping keep the ministry outwardly-focused. By becoming an integral part of the ministry, you will be a part of that community of believers. You will also strengthen and encourage the ministry by being the hands and feet of Jesus.

FAQs

What is it?
Multiply is an internship where you will learn how to be on mission in a city that desperately needs the Gospel by being fully immersed in the culture. You will be placed in a local urban ministry and serve alongside them. Along with serving others, you will be trained and equipped as a missionary by hearing from various pastors, missionaries, church planters, and injustice abolitionists who are experienced in urban ministry. You will also grow in learning how to make disciples and be on mission wherever you are in the context of community. As you serve, you will meet the spiritual, physical, and social needs of the people of New York City.

When is it?
Spring Semester: January 17 – May 17
Summer: May 26 – August  7
Fall: August 22 – December 12
Year: January 17 – January 16 or August 22 – August 20

What will I be doing?
Once you have been accepted, you will be prayerfully placed in an urban ministry based on your experience, skills, and gifting. Some examples of your potential ministries are: Vacation Bible School, church planting, fighting human trafficking, youth ministry, worship ministry, homeless outreach, street evangelism, community outreach events, and working amongst unreached people groups. You will be expected to learn the rhythms, culture, and needs of the community you will be serving.

What are subway and food cost estimates?
To travel on subway and bus in New York you will need a Metro card. It is up to you which Metro card you purchase, however we suggest purchasing an unlimited monthly Metro card which costs $121 (+$1 new fee card). A 7-day MetroCard costs $32, and a one-time ride costs $2.75. Food costs will vary depending on how much you eat out, however groceries are relatively inexpensive at Trader Joe's (located on our block). Approximately $60 would be enough for weekly groceries.

When are my fees due?
Your fees are due, at the very latest, by the first day of the internship.

How do I pay my fees?
There are two ways to pay: The first is online, by clicking here and selecting MultiplyNYC on the fund tab. The second way is to mail a check to our address (236 W 72nd St, New York, NY 10023) and making the check out to MNYBA. Please put "Multiply" and the intern’s name on the memo line.
